I really like this beer. It pours deep red with a nice creamy white head that hangs around for a while. Lacing is top notch. The smell is full of hops, with both pine and grapefruit shining through. The first taste is dominated by the hops, but quickly gives way to roasted malts and faint sweetness. Hints of grass on the finish also (maybe that’s the rye?).
Vital Stats: Served at 45F. 6.6% ABV
Taste: B+. Solid
Drinkability: B+. I could have a couple of these, but I have a feeling they’d start to catch up with you fast.
Packaging: B+. I like the Founders bottles. Interesting design and just enough info about what’s in there.
Value: 6-packs of RR are usually ~$10 and unlike a lot of Founders offerings, they’re readily available. If you’re jones’ing for a nice hoppy beer, give this one a try.
